Promises
A Promise is something you plan to do, either once or on a repeating schedule—like going to an appointment or reading every day. Add a reminder or an alarm whenever you need a nudge, and build your routine one Promise at a time.
Create a Promise
Start from a suggestion
- On the Promise tab, tap + in the top-right corner.
- Choose something you'd like to do from the suggestions.
- Review Time of day and Repeat, adjust them if needed, then tap Save.
Create a custom Promise
- Tap +, then tap ….
- Tap the Promise icon to choose the icon you like.
- Set the Name, Date, Time of day, and Repeat. For Weekly, select the days you want.
- To add a reminder, turn on Remind me, choose a time, and allow notifications when prompted.
- To add an alarm, turn on Alarm and allow access when prompted. Then tap Sound to choose an alarm sound.
- Tap Save.
Note: Alarms require iOS 26 or later. On earlier versions of iOS, you can still use reminders.
Complete a Promise
Tap the checkmark on the right side of a Promise to mark it as complete.
To undo a completion or log one for a past day, see Log or undo a completion.
Edit a Promise
You can edit a Promise in either of these ways:
- Tap the Promise: Tap a Promise to open its details, tap Edit, make your changes, then tap Save.
- Swipe left: Swipe left on a Promise, tap Edit, make your changes, then tap Save.
Note: Editing a Promise only changes its current settings. Your past completion records stay the same.
Delete a Promise
You can delete a Promise in either of these ways:
- Tap the Promise: Tap a Promise to open its details, tap Delete, then confirm.
- Swipe left: Swipe left on a Promise, tap More, tap Delete, then confirm.
Note: Deleting a repeating Promise stops all future occurrences and removes its reminders and alarms. Past completion records are kept, but you can no longer log or undo completions for that Promise.
